New backup system for fast data protection
Intra2net introduces differential backup with new release
Tübingen, Germany, Dec. 16, 2020 - Groupware and security specialist Intra2net (www.intra2net.com) is introducing a new backup system for the Intra2net Business Server. In the course of the new release 6.9.0, differential data backups are now supported. This significantly reduces the time required, especially for larger data volumes, as a daily full backup is no longer necessary. The differential backups only contain the changes from the last full backup. The update to version 6.9.0 is available immediately.
Significantly higher throughput rates
Customers who regularly back up a lot of email and groupware data will benefit most from the new backup system. The speed of data backup can be increased by a factor of eight using differential backup. Thus, on the basis of an Intra2net Appliance Pro, throughput rates of around 50 GB/h are achieved on average for the creation of complete backups, while differential backups achieve an equivalent of over 400 GB/h (benchmarks in each case with activated compression and without encryption).
"Users now have the option to create a full backup each weekend outside of business hours. On weekdays, multiple differential backups can then take place. This ensures high data security and integrity in accordance with DSGVO requirements without compromising productivity," explains Steffen Jarosch, member of the board of Intra2net AG.
Secure backup encryption based on AES-128-GCM
To further increase data security, Intra2net also offers a new and audited backup encryption with the release 6.9.0. The crypto method used is based on AES-128-GCM encryption and thus follows the current BSI recommendations. The new backup system also includes prediction of the time and space required for data backups in the system settings, which provides greater transparency. The storage duration of backups is now configured by default in days instead of the number of backup sets.
As an Exchange alternative, the Intra2net Business Server covers the typical requirements of small and medium-sized companies with 5 to 250 employees. Included are all the important functions for team collaboration, such as the shared use of e-mails, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes, including synchronization of mobile devices.
Prices and Availability
The new release 6.9.0 is available immediately. The corresponding updates are directly available for download for Intra2net customers.
Licenses for the Intra2net Business Server are available from 290,- Euro (license for five users including twelve months of software maintenance, non-binding recommended retail price plus VAT).
